Secret Access Hermitage

If you hate waiting in long lines or being pushed in crowded museums, this tour is for you!

As a local Hermitage fanatic, I needed the best access to my regular dose of art - so I figured out the best times to visit, even at the very height of the tourist season. It’s when all the big groups are not there, and the museum mostly has only local visitors, or those who know the secret! During these times, the museum is not crowded at all! It’s a real secret very few people know about!

Together with my guides, who love the Hermitage as much as I do, we have developed a special route that covers the museum’s major highlights (for example, remarkable works by Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, and Rubens), and then gives you time to see some things that only locals know about, like world’s oldest carpet, medieval knights’ armor, or private rooms of Nicolas II, the last emperor.

After your guide picks you up at the hotel, you will skip the lines to enter the Hermitage and have 2-3 hours to explore the museum’s major highlights and hidden secrets.

St. Petersburg Secrets

We believe that St. Petersburg really comes to life in the evening, when all the locals get off work. Everyone comes out to enjoy our beautiful city, where the sun sets behind Peter and Paul’s fortress, music is playing everywhere, and major museums open their doors to those who have the secret access.

After your guide picks you up at the hotel, you will get to ride around the city in a private Mercedez stocked with drinks and snacks by your friendly driver. Your guide will show you the best places to stop and take pictures.

During this tour, you will also get after hours access to these beautiful museums:

  • Peter and Paul’s fortress, the first structure in St. Petersburg. The cathedral inside is a famous burial place of the Romanov family.

  • Church on Spilt Blood, famous for its onion-shaped domes and mosaic interior. This unique example of Russian architecture is a must visit! Much less crowded during the after hours!

  • St. Isaac’s Cathedral is Russia’s largest church and the 4th largest dome cathedral in the world. Before the 1917 revolution, this was the main church of the Russian empire! In the evening, when there are much less people, it looks even more stunning!

Finally, here is something that major groups don’t get to experience during the day: in one of these places, you will also get to see a performance by local musicians!

Be an Honored Guest at Catherine's Palace

Catherine’s palace used to be the favorite summer estate of the royal family, and we believe that our guests should experience it the way the guests of the Romanovs did in the imperial times.

The tour starts with your guide picking you up at the hotel. On the way to the estate (about 1 hour drive in a private Mercedez), you will have a chance to see some interesting sights that are normally not included general city tours. You will get to see a WWII memorial, a couple little local churches, as well as some local malls and apartment buildings - the kind you would not see in the city center.

Upon arrival to the palace, you will be picked up at the park gates by beautiful horse and carriage. The carriage will take you around the park, and you’ll see some of the park’s hidden gems - pavilions, statues, little gardens - that are hard to access on foot. In one of the pavilions, you will have a local a cappella choir perform a traditional song just for you.

Finally, after about an hour of exploring the park by carriage, you will get to see the palace itself. The palace is a very popular sight and it always has plenty of visitors, but our team knows the best times to visit when the palace is the least crowded. You will definitely get to skip the lines to enter the palace. Inside, you will see the famous beautiful halls, such as the Amber room with its mystical history, or the Hall of Mirrors Ballroom, which can rival the one if Versailles.

The Hidden Gems of Peterhoff

Peterhoff is a gorgeous summer estate of the royal family, famous for its park. However, most people don’t know that in Peterhoff you can still see little private homes of the royal family, for example, Peter the Great or Catherine the Great. We believe that the best way to see Peterhoff is by exploring the park and the private palaces.

Your guide will pick you up at the hotel, and in a private Mercedez you will head to Peterhoff. During this 1-hour ride, you will have a glance at some off-the-beaten path sights, for example, Konstantin palace, where modern delegations stay during their visits to Russia, or the modern campus of St. Petersburg State University.

Upon arrival to Peterhoff, you will get a tour of the park with its beautiful fountains, which operate with no pumps or electricity - just by the power of water pressure! These beautiful fountains are intertwined with the park and its sculptures, gardens, and buildings.

You will even get to experience the fountain opening ceremony, when, accompanied by classical music, the main fountain, The Grand Cascade, magnificently turns on its streams of water. You will even get to do something that almost no other visitors do and go inside the Grand Cascade, where you will see how the fountains work and will have a unique viewpoint onto the whole park. You will have the best pictures!

Finally, you will get to visit one of the private homes of the Romanov family. Our favorite one is Peter the Great’s house called Monplaisir. It’s a stunning 18-century building located right on the shore of the Baltic see (you can see Finland from there!). Here, you will see Peter the Great’s private art collection, his kitchen, bedroom, and even his bathroom. Let us know if you are a fan of another Romanov, and if this person had a private home in Peterhoff, we will arrange an alternative visit!
