 1-day package. The Golden Ring of Russia: Vladimir and Suzdal

8 AM – your English-speaking driver picks you up in your hotel in Moscow. Transfer to Vladimir on a comfortable car or bus. Out of your window you will see typical Russian landscape (200 km).

11.30 AM – begin to explore Vladimir with the tour of Vladimir, where you will see:

  • The Golden Gate tower built in 1164, 
  • The Assumption cathedral with the unique fresco by Andrey Rublev,
  • St. Demetrius cathedral,
  • The lacquer boxes and crystal glass museum.

1 PM – Driving to Suzdal (35 km).

1.40 PM – Lunch time, feel free to ask your guide for suggestions on where to eat.

2.30 PM –The tour of Suzdal.Suzdal is one of the oldest Russian towns. In the 12th century it became the capital of the principality, with Moscow being merely one of its subordinate settlements. Nowadays Suzdal is the smallest of the Russian Golden Ring towns with the population of just 9978 people.

During the tour os Suzdal you will see:

  • The wooden architecture museum,
  • The St. Euphimius monastery – the former KGB political jail,
  • The Transfiguration of Jesus cathedral,
  • The bellman performance at the monastery,
  • The Market square,
  • The Kremlin (fort) of Suzdal,

11 AM - Meet your English-speaking guide and the driver at the Vladimir train stationand start exploring beautiful city of Vladimir!

11.30 AM – the city tour of Vladimir, during which you will see:

  • The Golden Gate tower built in 1164,

1 PM –   Driving to Suzdal (35 km).

The 2-day package: Sergiev Possad, Suzdal, Vladimir

Day 1

8 AM - your guide and driver pick you up at your hotel in Moscow and take you to SergievPossad. SergievPossad is themain highlight of Moscow’s suburbs,which was known as Zagorsk under Communism and is located 70 km north of the city. It is the main center of Russian Orthodox Christianity and home of the famous Trinity Sergiev Monastery.

10 AM – The tour of the Holy Trinity monastery (Lavra), the biggest center of the Russian Orthodox Church, visiting the main cathedrals.

12 PM – lunch, feel free to ask your guide for suggestions on what to eat based on your restrictions.

1.30 PM – transfer to Suzdal (180 km). Suzdal is one of the oldest Russian towns. In the 12th century it became the capital of the principality, with Moscow being merely one of its subordinate settlements. Nowadays Suzdal is the smallest of the Russian Golden Ring towns with the population of just 9978 people.

5 PM – Check in the hotel for 1 night and have some free time to wonder around the city.

Day 1

8 AM – your driver picks you up in your hotel in Moscow. He will take you to Vladimir (200 km). Enjoy the views from the window where you`ll see a typical Russian landscape while being a passenger in a comfortable bus or car.

3 PM - Transfer to Bogolyubovo (10 km). Russian Orthodox Christians believe that Bogolyubovo was founded on the spot where Bogolyubsky saw a miraculous vision of the Theotokos, who commanded him to build a church and a monastery on this spot. Consequently, the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl was built here. The church has been on UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992.

In Bogolyubovo you`ll see:

  • The Bogolyubovo convent with the remains of the palace of the prince ,
  • The Intercession of the Virgin church on the Nerl river.

5.30 PM –Transfer to Suzdal (35 km). Check in the hotel and have some free time to walk around the city

12 PM - Time for lunch

1.30 PM - The tour of the St Sergey Holy Trinity monastery – the “Russian Vatican” and the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church.

4 PM – Transfer to back Moscow (50 km).Arrival approximately at 6 – 7 PM.

Day 1

8 AM – your driver picks you up in your hotel in Moscow. Driving to Yaroslavl in a comfortable car or bus, during the trip you will see a typical Russian landscape out of your window (240 km).

10 AM –The tour of SergievPossad – the main highlight of Moscow’s suburbs,which was known as Zagorsk under Communism and is located 70 km north of the city.You will see:

  • The Holy Trinity Monastery is the biggest one in Russia, one of the residences of the Russian Patriarch.
  • The tour of the monastery with the local guide, including the visits to the main cathedrals.

12 AM – take a short stop at the main square of the ancient Russian town ofPereslavlZalesskiy. You will see:

  • The oldest cathedral of the North East of Russia,
  • The Transfiguration of Jesus church built in 1152 by the famous founder of Moscow YuriyDolgorukiy.
  • You will climb up to the earthern ramparts of the old fort to enjoy the view of the little provincial Russian town of 50 thousand people only.

1 PM – lunch at a local restaurant.

3.30 PM - the tour of Yaroslavl, where you will see:

  • The old town, known from the year of 1010.
  • The beautiful views of the Volga river.
  • You will visit the cathedral of Elaja the Prophet with the frescoes painted in the 17 century by the artists of the Armoury of the Kremlin of Moscow.
  • The monastery of the Transfiguration of Jesus.
  • The streets of Yaroslavl which are full of the Stalin time Soviet style architecture.

And of course, you will have as many chances as you wish to stop for a photo.

6.30 PM - check in to the hotel, then you will have a free time to walk around the city, of course, you can ask your guide for suggestions on where to go and what to see.



Day 2 

9 AM – driving to Kostroma (70 km).

10.30 AM - 

the tour of Kostroma, where you will see:

  • The ancient Russian merchant town on the Volga River,
  • The huge market place of the 18 century and still used by locals. It is still the center of the linen production, so there's a big variety of the locally made things.
  • The Ipatiev monastery – the beginning of the Romanov royal family.
  • Romanov chambers and the church where the first Romanov was invited to the throne in 1613.

12.30 PM – Lunch break.

1.30 PM - Driving to Suzdal.

4 PM – The tour of Suzdal, during which you will see:

  • The museum of the wooden architecture and peasant life,
  • The interiors of the traditional Russian loghuts and wooden chapels, barns and windmills give you the impression of the real rural Russia.
  • The oldest part of the town – the Kremlin of Suzdal with the cathedral of the 13 century,
  • The monastery of Steuphimius, which was used as the KGB political jail in the Communist times.

7 PM – Check in the hotel.













Day 3

9 AM –Driving to Bogolyubovo. 3 PM - The tour of the town called Rostov the Great. The main sight here is Rostov Kremlin. The Kremlin is flanked by two monasteries, both facing the Lake Nerl. To the right from the Kremlin stands the Abraham monastery, founded in the 11th century and one of the oldest in Russia.

6 PM - Check in the hotel in the city of Yaroslavl and have some free time to walk around the city.

Day 3

9.30 AM - In the morning we will drive to the Moose farm 20 km far from Kostroma. Moose is the biggest animal of the area. You will have a guided tour with the professional scientist. You can feed the animals and take photos with them.

11.30 AM – we will drive to the little town (2000 people) called Plyos. It is famous for the beautiful nature, especially in the fall. Many paintings were made there by the famous Russian landscapists, like Isaac Levitan. The paintings are represented in the Tretyakov Art Gallery in Moscow now. It`s truly the town of artists.

1 PM – Lunch time.

2 PM - After lunch, we will drive through the town called Ivanovo, which is full of the communist symbolism.The Stalin-time architecture with hammers and sickles in the stucco work.Used to be the very industrial center of the USSR.

6 PM – Check in the hotel in Suzdal.

 



Day 2 

9.30 AM – The tour of Yaroslavl, during which you will see:

  • The old town, known from the year of 1010.
  • The beautiful views of the Volga River.
  • You will visit the cathedral of Elaja the Prophet with the frescoes painted in the 17 century by the artists of the Armoury of the Kremlin of Moscow.
